🐙 East Berlin's Thomas Schumacher, a respected techno producer and DJ, began his career in 1987, spinning EBM. Inspired by Frankfurt techno, he brought the sound to Bremen, eventually adding Detroit techno to his sets. In 1993, he formed NIP Collective, then later released music as Silverstar and Elektrochemie LK. His breakthrough single, "Ficken?" (1996), launched his solo career, leading to European DJ gigs and scoring a production of Hamlet. His 1998 hit "When I Rock" funded his label, Spiel-Zeug Schallplatten, which released his debut album Electric Ballroom. He also released a mix series, Perlen. His second album, Home (2006), was co-produced by Stephan Bodzin, with whom he also collaborated on the project Elektrochemie.
